University of Cambridge – Entry Requirements for Nepali Students The University of Cambridge is one of the world’s most competitive universities. For Nepali students, the main point is that NEB Grade 12/Higher Secondary Education alone is generally not considered sufficiently competitive for direct undergraduate admission. Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree) Applicants from Nepal are strongly recommended to have additional internationally recognized qualifications. Cambridge lists suitable pathways such as: A Levels with very high grades in subjects relevant to the chosen course International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma At least 5 Advanced Placement (AP) examinations, each with a score of 5, together with an overall GPA of at least 3.61 in Nepal’s Grade XI and XII qualifications Possibly the successful completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree at a recognized university outside the UK, subject to advice from the chosen Cambridge College Cambridge expects applicants to achieve exceptional academic results. Course requirements vary, and many programs require particular subjects. For example, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences usually require strong advanced preparation in Mathematics and relevant science subjects. English Language Requirement Nepal is not classified as a majority English-speaking country for UK admissions purposes. Applicants normally need to demonstrate a high level of English proficiency unless they meet an accepted exemption. Cambridge’s English requirements are demanding and should be checked for the specific course and application year. For postgraduate study, the requirements are different and depend heavily on the chosen master’s or research program.
